WOMAN IN THE MIRROR (post-production)

Mata Hari before her first performance

DIRECTOR

DETAILS

In our short film Mata Hari (Katarina Strahinic) is preparing for her first dance performance in a dressing room in Paris.  Her loyal maid Anna Lintjens (Stephanie Lexer) helps her to transform from a European lady into an Indian princess.  Monsieur Noir (Nico Birnbaum) a skeptical journalist, interferes with her plans and she soon realizes a lot is at stake, should she actually dance.

Margaretha Geertruida Zelle was an incredibly courageous Dutch woman, who neglected all social constraints of her time. After losing nearly everything in her life she reinvented herself and became "Mata Hari", an Indian princess who as a semi-nude dancer revolutionized the image of the female body. She became the shooting star of the Belle Epoque.

WHEN PAUL CAME OVER THE SEA

                   - JOURNAL OF AN ENCOUNTER (2017)

EDITOR

"Jakob, the filmmaker, follows Cameroon refugee Paul on his risky trip to and across Europe. Going through different political as well as mental borders, this journey dramatically affects both of them. An absolutely genuine, unbiased and unpredictable adventure film about unusual connections in an agitated political context."
